Keeping chickens - very simple
Selection, housing, keeping and care
Chickens in your own garden: everything beginners need to know.
Keeping chickens is still a trend - not only in the countryside, but also in the city. Even 4 to 5 chickens feel at home in the garden: a small garden house or a mobile chicken coop, a fenced run and the fowl can move in. Chickens are curious, easy to care for and trusting.
This guidebook offers all chicken enthusiasts comprehensive, practical information on keeping, coops, runs, selection, purchase, acclimatisation, nutrition, care, health care, suitable breeds and chicken products such as eggs.
Author: Ralf-Wigand Usbeck
Ralf -Wigand Usbeck grew up with chickens, as his father ran a chicken farm as a sideline. He rediscovered his love of poultry after moving to the countryside. Here he was able to fulfil his long-held wish of keeping chickens himself. Since 2016, he has been renting out chickens to families and institutions such as kindergartens, schools and old people's homes in order to pass on the joy he feels when handling the animals to other people. In this context, he also offers prospective chicken keepers counselling sessions and gives lectures on the subject. He puts all his heart and soul and expertise into these activities.
