The special body shapes or feathers of these canaries are an expression of the breeder's will and fascinate many bird lovers worldwide.
In the general part of the book the ethical responsibility and the animal protection in to the bird breeding is explained, the special anatomy and hereditary mechanisms are described as well as general references for the breed are given.
In the special part 59 positur canaries are presented. The history and development of each breed play a special role, because some were created almost 200 years ago, others only in more recent times. The presentation of standard characteristics and peculiarities in breeding complete the individual breed descriptions.
This volume is rounded off with an index of all technical terms used in the three volumes of this compendium.
Author: Norbert Schramm
The author Norbert Schramm keeps and breeds since earliest youth the most different kinds of birds. Since 1974 he has been a member of a traditional Dresden breeders' club and began with color and positur canary breeding. Since 1985 he is a trained judge for color and positur canaries, carduelids, finch mongrels and later also for European birds.
His publications in professional journals and his previous books about breeding and keeping of canaries make him well-known in professional circles. He thus makes his knowledge available to all interested bird lovers.
